Cells of the Immune System

I-Cells of the immune system:

A-Non-Specific immune system :

a-Monocytes:
-Horseshoe-shaped nucleus
-cross capillary walls and become macrophages in tissues
-have phagocytic abilities

b-Granuolocytes:
-Also called polymorphonuclear cells
-cross capillary wall
-have a phagocytic ability

c-Lymphocytes:
---> B-lymphocytes:
-round nucleus
-secret antibodies

--->T-lymphocytes:
-round nucleas
-killer cells

Where do these cells originate and where do they mature ?

  1. B and T cells, both originate in the Bone marrow. B-cells mature within the bone marrow whereas T-cells travel to the thymus to get mature.

  2. Very Good Carolina , seems that your reading the book. Now let me tell you more about it, sometimes the T-cells fails to get mature because their are problems with the Thymus. What do you think will happen to the body if this was the problem?
